Marie-Cakupewa FUNDIKO

Marie Cakupewa Fundiko is a Congolese expert specialising in ethnobotany and biodiversity conservation in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Her main roles and contributions include :
- Management and Research: She is the director and co-founder of the Kivu Ethnobotanical Garden (JEBK RDC), an institution dedicated to the preservation of local plants and sustainable development.
- Teaching : She is a senior lecturer at the University of Cinquantenaire in Lwiro and at the Official University of Bukavu.
- Scientific Publications : Her work focuses in particular on the inventory of medicinal plants and the vulnerability of flora to climate change in the Kivu region.
- Community involvement : She is also director of the DRCC foundation and executive director of the Lwiro Vocational Training Centre, which emphasises education as a lever for peace and good governance.
- She frequently collaborates with the Lwiro Centre for Research in Natural Sciences (CRSN) as an associate researcher.
