Our Goals
The JEBK aims to:
- Conserve plant biodiversity by identifying, collecting, and domesticating endemic, threatened, and neglected plant species in Community Ethnobotanical Gardens.
- Support ecological restoration and landscape management, including the promotion of Indigenous food forests for food security, health, inclusion, and participation of Indigenous communities.
- Strengthen local capacity through participatory research, environmental education, professional training, and documentation of traditional plant knowledge.
- Support value-chain development of both timber and non-timber forest products through innovative and inclusive market approaches.
- Promote cooperation at local, regional, and international levels, improving conservation strategies and research infrastructure.

Our Core Activities & Services
JEBK’s work supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across social, ecological, economic, cultural, and governance dimensions. Therefore, we act through:
- Participatory research and Environmental education
- Documentation and protection of traditional plant knowledge
- Community support services (clean water, hygiene, vocational training, sustainable agriculture, gender-inclusive programs)
- Seed collection and conservation of endangered native species
